Lace Flower Wedding Cake Tutorial

In previous post you could see different wedding and birthday cakes I’ve made using the Lace flower molds. I’ve made step-by-step tutorial for using the molds and decorating this wedding cake. (I also made a tutorial for the topper 😉 )

First, here are the molds I have and use often.

You’ll need molds, rolling pin, fondant (or gum paste) and some icing sugar for dusting.

Roll out fondant. It should be thin.

Dust the molds with some icing sugar (or corn starch) using a brush.

Place rolled fondant on the mold and carefully press it using your fingers.

Then, press the second art of the mold, you can also use a rolling pin to make sure the lace embosses well.

Hold firmly the upper part of the mold and with other hand remove excess fondant.

Or use this modelling tool to remove the excess. I found it better and faster.

Remove the fondant from the mold and using sharp knife cut the excess fondant around the flower.

Do this with the smaller mold too.

Assemble the cake and place smaller flowers on the bottom tier like this.

Then, glue both large and small flower lace pieces on the top tier, making the pattern you like.

Get different flowers molds and some gum paste and make bunch of flowers.

Start with adding larger flowers on the top of the bottom tier, and continue with adding smaller until you are satified.
